Rebecca - 30 - Fylde
I inherited my grandfathers Olympus OM-10, a 35mm single-lens reflex camera, and a Praktica Super TL 35mm SLR film camera in 2019. I've always had a keen interest in photography but when my grandfather passed away I wanted to learn more. The cameras to me felt steeped in history and memories and I felt only responsible to continue my grandfathers storytelling.
Since then I've purchased a Fujifilm X-Series, a Nikon L35 AF2 and a Canon Zoom XL film camera. My grandfather had a talent for portrait photography and this is something I've focused on, specifically candid portraits. To me I love the patient waiting behind the viewfinder for the perfect moment to click and capture.
"The power of quiet observation."
Through portrait photography specifically candid portraits, I feel more of a deep understanding and connection to a persons true self, a more authentic self, capturing peoples unvarnished and unfiltered lives.
...I now want to use my camera to help others see their worth.
